Brake pads worn out, should I try a mobile service? - merricklane - 16-10-2026

So last night I was driving home from a late meeting and every time I touched the brake there was this horrible metal scraping sound that made me cringe. I have been ignoring a lighter squeak for weeks thinking it was nothing but now I am pretty sure the pads are finished and maybe the rotors are getting damaged too. The thought of driving to a workshop and waiting around for hours is exhausting because I barely get free time during the week. A guy in my building mentioned he used a mobile brake service recently where the technician came to his parking spot and finished the job in under an hour. He said he found this website that arranges the whole thing and the guy showed up with the right parts. That sounds ideal but I am nervous about whether these mobile guys carry genuine parts or just whatever cheap stuff they can find. How do I verify the pads they bring are actually good quality and not some no name brand? Also what is a reasonable price for front brake pads on a mid size sedan because I have no idea what to expect. I stay in Al Nahda and my car is a Nissan Altima if that helps. If anyone has used a mobile mechanic for brakes please share your experience because I would rather know now than regret it later.
